Senior Postillion Engineer (South Africa/Ghana)
About the Role
Role Purpose:
Effectively implementing, supporting, and maintaining Payment Applications while ensuring high availability of payment service solutions is multi-faceted and essential for the seamless operation of financial transactions.
System Configuration, Monitoring and Support Management:
- Comprehensive maintenance of the Postilion EFT systems, ensuring maximum availability & uptime as per agreed Service Level Agreements (SLA’s).
- Configuration of system parameters & implementing system changes as per business change control procedures.
- Supporting the operation and monitoring of the production systems.
- EFT Software installations and configurations.
- Defining the operational routines applicable for the systems deployed to deliver the service and authorising any changes to them.
- Allocating and assigning fault calls to technical support staff/ or 3rd parties and prioritising, expediting and escalating resolution.
- Defining service performance metrics and monitoring and reporting of them to management and customers as appropriate.
- Continuously performing system maintenance and testing, while ensuring optimal functionality of the database through effective management.
System Release and Update Testing:
- Testing any new system releases and /or updates from Development or Service Providers.
Security Compliance:
- Ensure EFT Corp. systems are fully compliant with Payment Card Industry (PCI) and all re-occurring security tasks (e.g. encryption key changes) are performed in a controlled manner.
Cross Functional Support:
- Addressing and resolving customer inquiries and concerns professionally.
- Provide technical support to the Client Services & Operational teams around EFT issues.
- Assist Operational teams in preparing environment for maintenance procedures
- (OS patching) by re-routing transaction traffic to backup or secondary systems.
- Specifying new system requirements to deliver new services.
- Ensuring thorough testing is conducted before implementing new systems or changes to existing ones.
- Defining, reviewing and testing the Disaster Recovery (DR) plans necessary for business continuity.
- Providing technical support in areas such as, but not limited to:
- production environment.
- upgrade software.
- general security.
- disaster recovery, bins etc.
- Assisting with the implementation of both internal and customer-driven projects.
- Performing EFT application testing for new internal/external requirements.
Document Management:
- Ensuring all system documentation, relating to the EFT environment (Operational, technical & BC/DR) is accurate, updated and freely available.
Capacity Planning:
- Undertaking capacity planning exercises to ensure the systems can deliver the contracted services.
Quality Assurance:
- Working with Quality Assurance (QA) team to ensure appropriate test strategies are in place for all Postilion changes.
- Supervising junior engineer implementation and acting as systems QA when required.
Client Communication:
- Establishing technical communication channels with all clients.
- Providing feedback to both management and clients in a professional manner.
Time-Sheet Management:
- Time tracking in Jira (Tempo) completed weekly, accurate project code allocation with a min average of 8 hours per workday.
Business Risk Management:
- Compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Complete all periodic mandatory policy and security training in accordance with EFT Corporation’s guidelines.
- Risk mindset applied and business risks actively raised to direct manager.

- Use of proper punctuation, UK English grammar and spelling.
- Ensure all documents, correspondence etc. are formatted correctly, are neat and accurate.
- All activities are completed with due care and align with accuracy and quality standards.
- Obtain necessary approvals for legal activities aligned with process.
- Identify and / or confirm relevant timeframes / deadlines applicable to the task at hand.

Country where services will be rendered: The nature of this role may require the individual to provide services across different entities within the EFT Corporation Group as and when required. This could involve temporary assignments, projects, or responsibilities that extend beyond the specific entity to which the individual is initially assigned. The willingness to adapt and contribute to the broader objectives of the group is essential for success in this role.
Requirements
What you need to succeed
- Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Sciences or Information Technology.
- Recommended 5-8+ years’ experience as a systems administrator.
- Structured Query Language (SQL) certification, an added advantage.
- Project management certification recommended.
- Experience with administering Microsoft (MS) Windows server environments.
- Exceptional knowledge & experience with both EFT & ecommerce payment systems.
- Excellent knowledge & experience of ACI’s Postilion EFT Transaction Switch suite, specifically Real-Time Framework (ver 4.x & 5.x) & Post Office (ver 4.x & 5.x), Postcard, Portal, AtmApp, TermApp, Postilion Active-Active.
- Experience & knowledge of payment card technologies (EMV, magnetic stripe & contactless) & card types (debit, credit, pre-paid & gift cards).
- Knowledge of Hardware Security Modules.
- Knowledge in Postilion Upgrades, Integrations, Migration, Monitoring and Maintenance.
- In-depth knowledge of ATM, POS and Mobile terminals transactions flow.
- Advance knowledge of PCI DSS, PA DSS & understanding of ISO8583 protocol.
- Knowledge in 3rd party interfaces i.e. VISA MasterCard, UPI, Bankserve, etc
- Exceptional knowledge and experience with both EFT & ecommerce Payment Systems.
- Excellent knowledge and experience of ACI’s Postilion EFT Transaction Switch suite.
- Good knowledge and experience with Postilion Configuration Server and terminal software (eSocket.POS).
- Experience and knowledge of payment card technologies (EMV, magnetic stripe & contactless) and card types (debit, credit, pre-paid, virtual and gift cards).
- Understanding and experience of payment clearing and settlement functions through reconciliation processes.
- An exceptional level of understanding of LAN and WAN based network technologies, including TCP\IP & UDP/IP.
- Understanding of API standards, technologies and the applicability in the
- Payments Card Industry.
- Knowledge and understanding of IT Security techniques (encryption, hashing, tokenization) and industry standard protocols (SSL, IPsec).
- Exceptional understanding of the Payment Card Industry and Payment
- Application data security standards relating specifically to payment systems and environments.
- Experience with administering MS 365 server environments.
- Exceptional skills in analysis, identification, and problem resolution, with the ability to troubleshoot issues in a logical and disciplined manner.
- Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills for both internal and customer interactions. Capable of documenting activities, problems, and procedures clearly, accurately, and concisely.
- Capable of managing tasks and projects to achieve specified goals and milestones.
- Ability to effectively manage and mentor junior EFT engineers.
- A demonstrated ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
- Ability to effectively plan, prioritise and multi-task in a complex operational environment without sacrificing work output or quality.
- Disciplined with a close attention to detail.
- Ideally within a 24/7 real-time operational server environment.
- Ability to manage 3rd party suppliers to ensure that they are managed effectively.
